 Obituario de Joann Janet Wood
Joann J. Wood 88, of Indianapolis, died October 24, 2018. Calling will be from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday, October 29 at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. followed by the Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Tuesday October 30 with visitation an hour before at St. Pius X Catholic Church, where she and her husband of 63 years, Bill, had served as lay ministers of the Eucharist. She was a former member of the parish school board and the North Deanery school board and has been a member of two parish faith sharing groups. She attended daily mass at the parish for years. Burial will be at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Her memberships included the National Porphirio Foundation the McChurch Group and the Red Hat Society. She was known for her sparkling personality, her sometimes irreverent sense of humor and her hilarious campfire songs. Always a participant in parish activities, she was well known in the community of St. Pius X. Her love for the Indianapolis Colts was only exceeded by her love for her dog, Angel. She attended every 500 Mile Race at IMS since she was nine years old. She was the daughter of the late Glenn L. and Marea Steinhilber Jones. Joann graduated from St. Joan of Arc grade school and St. Agnes Academy and attended Butler University. She served as an intake and referral volunteer at the Crisis Office of Catholic Charities for over 46 years and was Volunteer of the Year of the Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese. She is also survived by her eight children, Steven (Teresa) and their sons, Steven and Michael; Matthew (Laura) and their son, Matthew; Dr. Kathleen and her daughters, Eve and Anna; Michael and his daughter, Elizabeth; Joseph (Lara) and their son, Ethan; James (Andrea) and their daughter Sarah; Julie and her sons Levi and Kyle; and David (Lisa) and their children, Hope and Nicholas and 5 great grandchildren. Her husband William J. (Bill) Wood, older brother, Captain G. Daniel Jones and her sister Mary Colleen Baker predeceased her. Contributions may be made to the St Pius X endowment and the Catholic Community Foundation of Indianapolis or to the Crisis Office of Catholic Charities of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis.
