

JOE professed a hope in Christ at an early age in Logan County, Kentucky, where he also attended the public schools.
JOE found the love of his life when he met Margaret JoAnn. They united in holy matrimony and to this union five children were born: Joyce, Bryon, David, Joe, and Ronald.
JOE was employed at Fort Benjamin Harrison and Indianapolis DOT.
JOE was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
JOE RICHARD BLAKEY, SR. went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 8 2021. The Lord blessed us to be able to be a part of his life that spanned for 89 years, 6 months and 5 days. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret JoAnn Blakey; brothers, Robert Earl (Linda) Blakey of Indianapolis, Indiana, Waymond (JoAnn) Blakey Jr. of Russellville, Kentucky, David Harrell (Mary) Blakey of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Tony Ray (Michelle) Blakey of Edmonton, Kentucky; sisters, Lois Mae Blakey of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Betty Jean Pike of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Judith Ann Blakey of Auburn, Kentucky; and one son, Bryon L. Blakey, who passed away May 11, 2021.
He leaves to cherish his memory three brothers, David A. Blakey, Joe R. Blakey Jr. (Pearlie) and Ronald D. Blakey (Sabrina); one daughter, Joyce E. {Blakey} Barlow (Mark) all of Indianapolis, Indiana; two brothers, John William Blakey (Barbara) of Russellville, Kentucky and Barry Gene Blakey (Sharon) of Bowling Green, Kentucky; one sister, Martha Jane Blakey of all burned, Kentucky; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Service for Joe will be held, 12:00 pm, Friday, June 18, 2021, at Williams and Bluitt Funeral Home Peoples' Chapel, 5252 E. 28th Street, with visitation held from 11:00 am until time of service at 12 pm. Interment Sutherland Park Cemetery.
