

John was born on November 25, 1960, in Anderson, Indiana, to Hugo and Joann Baker. He grew up in the area and graduated from Highland High School in 1979 and continued his education at Indiana State University, where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Telecommunications.
John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Missile Systems Specialist, a role that reflected his technical skill and dedication. Following his military service, he built a long and successful career as a Field Engineer with Verizon Wireless, where he worked for 25 years.
On September 9, 2001, John married Robbin Kendall in Indianapolis.
Outside of work, John enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved golfing, biking, taking on fixer-upper projects, and watching sports. He was known for his hands-on nature and quiet determination.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Joan (Kauffman) Baker.
He is survived by his former wife, Robbin Baker of Indianapolis, IN; his children, Lindsey Yates (Jimmy Yates) of Trafalgar, IN, Jonathan Baker of Beech Grove, IN, and Haley Baker of Indianapolis, IN; and his sisters, Joyce Becraft (Rex Becraft) of Anderson, IN and Marsha Ellis (Stan Ellis) of Monticello, IN.
Visitation will be from 10am -12 pm on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Little and Sons Funeral Home, 4901 E Stop 11 Rd, Indpls IN.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 PM on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Little and Sons Funeral Home, 4901 E Stop 11 Rd, Indpls IN, with Pastor John Dunaway officiating.
