John William Clerkin, 76, passed away in his sleep on November 11, 2025. Born in Indianapolis to William and Maxine Clerkin, he attended North Central High School and St. Petersburg College before serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He received the Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star, and Purple Heart for his service.
John worked as a manufacturer’s representative at Clerkin Machinery and later held other positions throughout his career. He enjoyed time with his family, playing cards, and caring for animals.
He is survived by his children, Mark Clerkin (Alexandra) and Alison Laitas (Tim), grandchildren Andrew, Jackson, and Lauren Laitas, and Magdalene and Owen Clerkin, and sisters Beverly Jackson, Barbara Robert, and Mary Lou Bernard.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Adele Holevas.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 19, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Crown Hill Funeral Home, with burial to follow.
