

81, passed away peacefully at his home in Indianapolis on March 27, 2017, following a lengthy battle with lymphoma. He was born in Indianapolis on June 17, 1935 to the late John B. and Bessie Mae (Penny) Cooper.
Mr. Cooper was a graduate of Howe High School in Indianapolis and served in the US Air Force as a B-47 jet mechanic at Barksdale AFB in Shreveport, Louisiana. John was a sign electrician for nearly 40 years most of which was with Capitol Neon Signs in Indianapolis.
An avid fisherman, Mr. Cooper enjoyed frequent summer trips to Michigan, Minnesota and Canada, as well as walking the creeks of central and southern Indiana. He also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and Tunica with family and friends.
John is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sandra (Sears) Cooper, son; Scott (Liz) Cooper, daughter; Leslie (Mike) Szabo; grandchildren Brittany and Dustin Dishman, Michael and Bradley Szabo; great-grandchildren Hailey, Brooklyn, Landon, Lucas and Grayson Dishman, and Connor Szabo; sisters Mary Cook, JoAnn Calvin and Shirley Wayman; brothers Richard and Gene Cooper.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at Family Funeral Care on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 11:00am-1:00pm with a Memorial Service immediately following at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in John’s memory to the Disabled American Veterans or Bridgeport United Methodist Church.
