John Wesley "Johnny Redd" Jones, Sr.

At an early age he professed a hope in Christ and was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church.

He attended school #37 and then went on to attend Arsenal Technical High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1972. While in active duty he was a teacher and was awarded a Rifle Expert Badge and the National Defense Service Medal. He served his country and received an honorable discharge in 1974. He was a devoted employee of Apex Paving and Excavating Company for 16 years until his health began to fail.

Mr. Jones united in Holy Matrimony to Anita L. Gilbert on September 10, 2007 and enjoyed 8 years of marriage. They were devoted to each in sickness and in health.

Mr. Jones departed this life surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the age of 61. He was preceded in death by his father Mr. Carroll W. Jones, Sr. and his brother Mr. Carroll W. Jones, Jr.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Anita L. Gilbert-Jones; mother, Freida M. Jones; son, John W. Jones, Jr. (Samantha); daughters, Donielle Neal (Andre), Tiffany Jones, Stephanie Gilbert, and JoAnna Smith; brothers, Anthony D. Jones, Sr. (Pat) and Steven L. Jones; sisters, Catherine E. Jones, Anita L. Jones and Elizabeth D. Jones; grandchildren, A.J, Aniyah, Arden, Austin, Cameron, Jada and Evan; his sidekick Rascal and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
