John "Jack" Mears

83, of Indianapolis passed away on December 29, 2016. He was born November 1, 1933 in Indianapolis to Charles and Angela Litzelman Mears. He was a printer with the Times and the Indianapolis Star- News, retiring in 1998. Jack was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church and Old Timers Printers. He was the grounds keeper at the Fourth Estate Softball Diamond and helped maintain the grounds at Little Flower Catholic Church. Jack is survived by his beloved wife Catherine Heitmann Mears, children Veronica “Ronni” (Danny) Broughton, Gerald “Jerry” (fiancée Maria Goodin) Mears and Pamela (John) Lay, sister, Shelia (John) Monfreda, grandchildren Lillian and Carly Broughton, Abby Goodin, Jessica, Elizabeth and William Lay. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Pat Rickelman. Funeral services will be Tuesday January 3, 2017 at 9:30 am at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary followed by A Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at Little Flower Catholic Church. Visitation will be Monday January 2, 2017 from 4 – 8 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials in Jack’s name may be made to Little Flower Catholic Church.
