

John William Talbott, at the age of 95, passed away on January 10, 2022. His family was one of the founding families of Indianapolis, and he has always been a resident of Indianapolis. Throughout his life he did many things. He proudly served his country in the Navy between 1945-1946 during World War II. He volunteered to enlist at the age of 18 soon after his brother Joe Talbott enlisted in the Air Force. John went to radio school, but then became a typist for the Navy at the Training Center in Oahu, Hawaii. After his time in the Navy, he became a car salesman until he retired and then a beloved greeter at Sam’s Club. He was very proud to be a veteran, a member of the Masonic Lodge, NRA, and American Legion. Survivors include two sons, William “Bill” Talbott and Lance Talbott, as well as Daughter-in-law Teoda Talbott.
John enjoyed doing many activities, such as photography, horticulture and birdwatching around his home, going to historical events, and spending time with his family. He regularly went to Mansfield Mushroom Festival, Feast of the Hunter’s Moon in Tippecanoe County, Muzzle Loading Shoots in Friendship (IN), and concerts at Conner Prairie.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18th from 11am-1pm at Crown Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery (700 38th St, Indianapolis, IN 46208) with services immediately following. In lieu of flowers, in memory of John, you can donate to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
