

John was born in Indianapolis to Roland and Anna May Trimpe. He attended school at IPS 33 and Arsenal Technical High School. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from Indiana Wesleyan. After discharge from the Army where he served in Signal Corps he worked for Indiana Bell and AT&T in various capacities retiring as a District Manager.
He was married to Donna Hinchman Trimpe for 62 years. They have a daughter Chris and a son Ken (Angie) and 3 grandchildren; Katelyn, Cooper and Paige, who all survive him.
John was actively involved in the First Presbyterian Church of Martinsville, Indiana. His 52 years as a volunteer fireman in Indiana began in Long Beach in 1967. He also served with the Zionsville VFD and the Brooklyn VFD.
His other volunteer service included serving as an EMT in Zionsville, East Hanover NJ, and Brooklyn, IN and with EMS disaster preparedness for Morgan County. He was a CPR/First Aid instructor for the American Red Cross and active with the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Visitation will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, Remembrance Hall, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, on March 18, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm, and again on March 19, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, Remembrance Hall, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, on March 19, 2026, at 3:00 pm with the Rev John Erickson of First Presbyterian Church Martinsville, officiating.
