Joseph Stout Desautels

86, of St. Petersburg, FL passed away on July 5, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, St. Petersburg, FL. Born on March 20, 1931 in Indianapolis, Indiana, to the late Leon and Josephine (Stout) Desautels, Joseph attended Cathedral High School, earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and proudly served in the United States Army. He then worked and later owned the Geo. O. Desautels Co. for over 40 years until retiring to St. Petersburg, Florida. Besides his family, his two biggest loves were the University of Notre Dame, and of course the game of golf (particularly playing at Crooked Stick).

Joseph is survived by his children, Diane Desautels, Kathleen Desautels (Steve), Michael Desautels (Lori), Margaret “Peggy” Meyer, Mary Beth Desautels (Mark), and Joseph Desautels; 6 grandchildren, brother Robert Desautels (Theresa), sisters Sr. Kathleen Desautels SP and Marianne Mahaffey (Mark), as well as his loving companion of 20 years, Cynthia Topfer. He was preceded in death by his loving parents and brother George Desautels.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., with visitation at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 4217 N. Central Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46205.
