Joseph H Smith

Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from June 20, 1973 until July 15, 1977. His service reflected his strong sense of duty, discipline, and love for his country. Joseph's service and dedication were honored by the United States Veterans on August 12, 2025 - an acknowledgement he deeply appreciated.

On December 29, 2019, Joseph gave his life to Christ at Mt. Calvary Church under the leadership of Reverend James D. Johnson. His walk with God brought him great joy and peace, and he remained a faithful believer until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, whose memory he cherished dearly. Joseph leaves to cherish his memory his adopted family, William and Veronica Washington, and Gregory and Audra Washington; and his beloved adopted grandchildren, David Washington, Diamond, Asia, and Lexis Mitchell.

Joseph will be remembered for his gentle spirit, steadfast faith and kind heart. His love, laughter, and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held on November 8, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Mt. Calvary Church, located at 2311 Kessler Blvd, Indianapolis, IN, 46222. A funeral service with military honors will follow at 2 p.m.

Joseph will be laid to rest at Marion National Cemetery at a later date.
