Laura Ann (Schaefer) Khanna, age 66, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Her family and many friends mourn her passing, but remember fondly her beautiful life and ever-present smile.
Laura was preceded in death by her father John P. “Jack” Schaefer and her mother Barbara M. (Werner) Schaefer.
She is survived by her daughter Erika (Joseph Corbett) Khanna and grandson Jonah Corbett; sisters, Cathy (Jeff Seeman) Schaefer, Karen (Ed) Mayer; brothers, David (Vanessa) Schaefer, John (Kris) Schaefer; eight nieces and nephews; seven great nieces and great nephews and Erika’s father, Rajnish Khanna.
Laura loved to get together with family and share meals, stories, games and laughter. Laura had a quirky sense of humor that was followed by an infectious laugh. She was observant and was quick to compliment others new hairstyles, jewelry and clothing. She had an honest and genuine personality and always said what she meant. She loved her job at Kroger and received several awards because of her customer service skills. Her main passion was going to clubs and dancing with her many friends. She loved all animals and often fed birds, rabbits and squirrels in her backyard especially when she could no longer have a cat. Her joy, the one that made her smile the most, was when Erika would bring over Jonah to see her. Laura truly lit up a room at the sight of Jonah. She fought a courageous battle against the “C word” until she could not fight any longer. She will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
A memorial gathering for Laura will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 4901 E Stop Eleven Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46237. Prayers will be at 10:00 AM with Father Hunter of Saint Roch Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Tails and Trails Rescue of Central Indiana since Laura had a great love for animals. http://www.tailsandtrails.org/
