 Obituario de Louis L. Reese
Louis Lorenzo Reese, Jr. was born August 16, 1944, to the late Louis Lorenzo Reese, Sr. and Jennette Franklin in Birmingham, Alabama. He was educated in the Birmingham Public Schools in Birmingham, Alabama. Louis confessed his hope in Christ and was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church. As a young adult he sung in the choir as well as sung with the Swanny Sons Jr. quartet in Birmingham. In September of 1968, he married Della Jean and relocated to Indianapolis, where he has lived for the past fifty-five years. Together they had four children. Louis was blessed to be employed and retired from Ready Mix Concrete Company (I.M.I.) after 30 years. Louis was a huge staple at the company and was lovingly known as “Big Lou”. Louis was a man of distinction and carried himself accordingly. He was known for his dapper style, his piercing hazel eyes, his witty sense of humor and magnetic personality. In his spare time, he enjoyed a good game of cards with spades being his favorite. Later in his life he enjoyed frequent trips to his favorite stores Sam’s Club and Meijer. When asked what he wanted to do for the day he always responded with “Do you want to run to Sam’s?” He loved being surrounded by his family and was very protective of his loved ones. The sun seemed to shine a little less brightly the day he went to join our Heavenly Father. On January 27, 2023, even nature seemed to join us in our mourning. We will forever miss the joy of his laughter and his presence in our lives. However, we can rejoice because we were assured that he was joined at heaven’s gates by our loved ones. He was preceded in death by his wife; son, Vincent L. Reese; parents; brother, Harold Franklin; sister, Esther Daniels. When God called him home to rest, he left fond memories with his children, Louis L. Reese III, Valencia Lesure (Roger) and Corey Reese; 16 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; sisters, Delois Steele and Mary Brewer of East St. Louis, IL; Brother/Cousin, Tyrone Woods; a host of nephews and nieces, cousins, church family and friends.
