Mary Ann Monica Handrick

Mary Ann Monica Handrick, age 94, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024. She was born in Auburndale, WI on May 27, 1930 to parents William and Alma (Kroh) Gotz. She moved with her family to Marshfield, WI when her parents purchased a dairy farm there. Mary Ann attended and graduated from Marshfield High school in 1948. She went on to marry the love of her life, Wienand Handrick, on September 26th, 1953.

Wienand was in the US Army for 22 years and Mary Ann managed their many moves until they settled in St. Louis where they lived from 1967 until 1991, making their final move to Indianapolis. Mary Ann's kind and open personality helped her create lasting friendships around the world. Some of the biggest joys in her life were traveling and spending time with her three sisters and two brothers. Ultimately, her proudest moments were in the home being a wife and mother to her beloved family. Mary Ann was a devout Catholic all of her life, attending Mass every Sunday and practicing charity with a generous heart.

Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wienand Handrick; daughter-in-law, Sandii Handrick; brother, Clarence Gotz; sister, Helen Ivanoff; brother-in-law, Howard Larsen; sister-in-laws, Theresa Gotz and Helen Gotz. She is survived by her children, Judy Dyckman (Diana) of Spring, TX, Don Handrick (Patrick Gutierrez) of Santa Fe, NM, and Daryl Handrick of East Saint Louis, IL; grandsons, Robert Dyckman and Neal Handrick; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Gonzalez-Dyckman; sisters, Janet Larsen of Orlando, FL and Sheela Schermetzler (James) of Spearfish, SD; brother, Ronald Gotz of Marshfield, WI; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 11AM at St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church, 8155 Oaklandon Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46236. Mary Ann will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
