Matthew David Akers

Matthew David Akers was born on August 14, 1970 to loving parents Dessie B. Pittmon and Norval Lee Akers, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He passed peacefully away on Monday, February 4, 2019. Matthew Akers was a very loving and compassionate man. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his friends and co-workers. Matthew enjoyed sporting events, music concerts, and shooting pool. Matthew was the BEST uncle anyone could ever have. Matthew is fondly remembered for combing hair, trips to the drive-in, playing basketball and video games, attending sporting events and being a mentor to his nephews. He was also a phenomenal brother, cousin, friend, and co-worker. He had a unique sense of humor, infectious laugh, and an overall lighthearted personality. Matthew attended IPS #27 and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1988. He was employed for 15 years at Nexus Valve. Matthew was preceded in death by his sister, Marla Dee Akers; his dad, Norval Lee Akers; and his brother, William E. Polin, Jr. Matthew leaves to lovingly cherish his memory: sisters, Mia D. Akers and Chiquita M. Pittmon Fountain (Ranell); nieces, Aja N. Long Manning (Ricky); Jessica D. Jones Stubbs (Everitt), Jasmine M. Fountain Gary (Michael), Cierra L. Fountain, Nia I. Johnson; nephews, Ryan C. Jones, Parker Jones, Tristan A. Fountain and Joshua I. Johnson. He also leaves many great nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and many friends, who will remember him.
