Mattie Thomas Martin, 91, Indianapolis, passed away on June 18, 2012. Ms. Martin graduated from Crispus Attucks High School at the age of 15. As a youth, she memorized her educational materials and spoke Latin fluently. She was a graduate of Poro Beauty College and was the owner operator of Mattie’s House of Beauty in Indianapolis and Mattie’s Beauty Shop in Anderson, Indiana. She is survived by her daughters: Anita Funches and Bonita Rowley-Watford, son Devee Martin, Jr., sisters Margaret Bryant-Anderson and Madie Goens and a host of grandchildren, great-grand children, other family and friends. Friends may call on Friday, June 22, 2012 from 10am to 12pm at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 2624 E. 25th St. The service will follow at 12pm. Burial in Sutherland Park Cemetery. Services entrusted to Williams & Bluitt Funeral Home.
