

Max Evans Wineman, 79, of Avon, Indiana passed away Friday, October 30, 2020 after a short illness. He was born October 24, 1941 to Max E. and Ruth G. (Sells) Wineman in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a 1960 graduate of Clayton High School, in Clayton, Indiana. Upon graduation, Max entered the U.S. Army and was stationed at Ft. Ord, California. He completed his military service in the U.S. Army National Guard serving as a member of the military police unit in Danville, Indiana. One of the highlights of Max's life was the Honor Flight in 2019 for his military service during the Vietnam War era. It was even more special because his son Darrell was able to accompany him as his guardian.
Max's first job was working for Farm Bureau CO-OP in Indianapolis and later in Danville. He briefly attended Sam's Technical Institute in Indianapolis before beginning his 31 year career working at Allison's Division of General Motors. He retired from Allison's in 1996. After retirement he enjoyed working at the local IGA grocery store in Danville and at the Headquarters Golf store in Plainfield until his final retirement in 2007. Max also worked part-time for 27 years at Weaver & Randolph Funeral Home in Danville. During his time working for Weaver and Randolph, he was an EMT and spent many years working on an ambulance at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the month of May.
Max married Beverly E. Jenkins of Coatesville, IN on September 21, 1963. Together they worked hard to provide for their family of three children with all three attending and graduating college. Max's children and grandchildren were the apple of his eye and he loved them all dearly.
Max was beloved by all and had an infectious personality and laugh which made him a joy to be around.
Max and Bev loved to travel during their 57 year marriage visiting 47 of the 50 states and many of the Canadian provinces. Max loved the mountains and especially the Grand Tetons in Wyoming. He also loved birdwatching and kept busy keeping his many bird feeders full.
Max was a former member of Danville First Baptist Church (Westbridge) for over 30 years and currently a member of Kingsway Christian Church for the past 17 years. He loved his church and church family. Sunday's were the highlight of his week.
Max is survived by his wife, Bev; their children, Dena Kay and her husband Jeff Marble of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Darrell Kent and his wife Dawn (Powers) Wineman of Knightstown, Indiana and Gregory Evans and his wife Carrie (Lester) Wineman of Green Cove Springs, Florida; also surviving are his six grandchildren Jonathan and Noah Marble, Lauren Wineman, Meg Wineman, and Jack and Claire Newell. Max is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Linda Wineman, and niece Sheryl DuBois, and nephew Jeff Wineman and his wife Terri; and his brother-in-law, Victor R. Jenkins of Gold Canyon, AZ.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2020 and from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Kingsway Christian Church, 7981 E. County Road 100 N., Avon, Indiana 46123. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 6, 2020 at the church. Burial will be in the Clayton Cemetery in Clayton, Indiana.
