

Born on March 21, 1959, in Indianapolis, IN Mike was the beloved son of Patrick Edward Nix and Donna (Jester) Nix. He graduated from Southport High School and later earned an American Bankers Association certification from Indiana Central College.
Mike devoted 48 years to a distinguished career in banking, serving with integrity and dedication at Merchants National Bank, National City Bank, and PNC Bank. Known for his professionalism, kindness, and sense of humor, Mike earned the trust and friendship of countless colleagues and clients over the years. Mike met his lifelong partner at the bank.
Mike shared 35 loving years with his husband, Mark DeVore, a partnership marked by deep affection, laughter, and mutual respect. Together, they built a life rich in love, community, and shared adventures.
A man of faith and service, Mike was a longtime member and treasurer of Broadway United Methodist Church, where he gave generously of his time and talents. His quiet strength and compassion extended to his family as well—he supported his parents and uncle with unwavering love and respect throughout their lives.
Mike’s joys were many: family and friends, travel, art fairs, concerts, and theater. His warm smile, gentle spirit, and thoughtful presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his husband, Mark DeVore and two beloved dogs Chip and Dale; his mother, Donna Nix; sister Luann Nix Deese and brother-in-law Alan Deese; nephew Nicholas Deese; niece Kylie Carroll and her husband Mitchell Carroll; and two cherished grandnieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Patrick Nix, grandmother Olive Jester (Granny), grandfather Egbert Jester and Uncle Winston Armstrong.
Mike asked that you donate food to food banks and churches of your choice to help those in need.
Visitation will be held on November 11, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Crown Hill Funeral Home, located at 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN 46208. The funeral service will follow at the same location on November 11, 2025, starting at 1:00 pm.
