

Mike was a devoted and faithful husband to the love of his life, Gloria Taylor, whom he married on October 1, 1988.
Mike, a loving father, to sons Devon and EJ and was also a devoted son-in-law to the late Annie and Fred Taylor. The Taylor family often joked that Mike was the “favorite.” To his siblings, “Mike was one of the best brothers.”
Mike was known for cultivating many beautiful houseplants, “happily shared plant tips”, and baked delicious foods. He was an avid book reader of thrillers, to name a few. He enjoyed woodworking, watching theatrical and mystery movies, old Westerns, and old-time favorite television shows.
Mike joined the U.S. Navy in 1971. After serving his country, he graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. He moved to Indianapolis, where he started his extraordinary career. Mike worked in the public sector and served in various positions for the city & state, and the U.S. Department of Housing Urban & Development (HUD).
Mike and his family moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, where Mike served as the Public Housing Director of Little Rock(1995 to 1999). From 1999 to 2001, Mike served as the Director for Troubled Agency Recovery Center (TARC), in Cleveland, Ohio. Mike and his family moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, in 2001, where he served as the Director of Public Housing until his retirement in 2017.
During his Navy and years of employment, Mike received many recognitions and awards for his public service.
Leaving to cherish his memories, wife Gloria, sons Devon and EJ, grandsons DeAndre’ and Michael, siblings: Priscilla Curtis, Debra Johnson, James K. (Renee) Williams; sisters-in-law Belinda Williams, Norma Taylor, Kamera Riggins, Alicia Taylor, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and close college buds “The Wombats”.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred E. and Doris Williams, and siblings: Stephen (Barbara) Williams and Kevin Williams.
A memorial service for Mike will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Crown Hill Funeral Home in Indianapolis, IN. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, with a celebration of Mike's remarkable life with military honors at 2 pm.
