Milly married Henry “Doogey” Douglas Monday June 12, 1953, together they were blessed with six children, Patty Olnick (Joe Paul); Henry (Jane) Monday; Billy (Kim)Monday; Judy Olnick (Bill); Debbie Bault (Franklin); and Bobby Monday.
While raising their children, the happy couple lived in Indianapolis where Milly worked at various factory jobs. In 1974 Milly and Douglas divorced and Milly relocated to Bloomington, Indiana where she worked as a home health care aide until her retirement.
Milly met and married Bob West in 1978 and became a bonus mom to Scott West (Ellettsville, Indiana) and Kay Tucker (John) (Henderson, Kentucky). The loving couple both retired in 1989 and became snowbirds traveling back and forth to their homes in Okeechobee, Florida and Bedford, Indiana.
Milly was a social butterfly and loved playing cards with her friends as well as working puzzles. In her younger years she enjoyed fishing and hunting. She loved to read all genres of books. She especially loved her cookbooks and making the delicious recipes she would find. She also enjoyed everything in nature, whether it was a deer in her Bedford, Indiana backyard or butterflies fluttering about, hummingbirds on her feeders, squirrels running and playing or the beautiful Florida flamingos, she enjoyed it all. Milly and Bob had two dogs, Buttons and Daisy, who they both enjoyed snuggling up with on their laps. Also, we cannot forget her beloved cat Pasia, who became her whole world two short years ago when she rescued her.
Milly had a sweet and spicy personality. She was a strong woman having six children by the age of twenty-two. She was able to take all six kids on an outing and they all knew better than to act up and to listen the first time they were told. Milly said what she meant and meant what she said. She valued all her relationships; she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a true and trusted friend.
Those left to cherish Milly’s memory include her children Patty, Billy, Judy, Debbie, Scott and Kay; twenty-six grandchildren; seventy great grandchildren; and thirty-six great-great grandchildren. Milly was greatly loved by so many and will be truly missed.
Milly has returned home joining her sister Joan Didion; her husband Bob West; sons Henry and Bobby; one granddaughter Stephanie Monday; and two great granddaughters Sadie Hill and Angel Fox.
An interment service will be held at 12PM on Saturday June 1, 2024 at Valhalla Memory Gardens 310 N Johnson Ave Bloomington, IN 47404 812-332-9321.
