It is with profound grief that we announce the sudden passing of Monica Emily Allardt (Townsend). Named after her two grandmothers, she was born August 25, 1990 and died December 29, 2024, in Indianapolis.
Her family is comforted knowing her vibrant spirit, kindness, enthusiasm, intelligence, generosity, loyalty, comedic timing, grace, and beauty- inside and out- impacted so many in her 34 years.
She was an active member of the Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation, which was her spiritual center and where she had many close and dear friends. She was honored to be a recipient of the 2024 Maurer-Koach Cohort Fellowship which allowed her to travel to Hungary and Poland. This opportunity was hugely impactful for her.
Monica attended Park Tudor school for elementary and middle school and graduated from Zionsville High School in 2009 with a High Honors degree. She studied at DePauw University and graduated with Honors from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Labor Relations.
Monica created her own home organization business, Alphabetical Order in 2019. She was a service and solutions specialist at Resort Condos International, a Behavior therapist at the Behavioral Analysis Center for Autism, and recently became a realtor for F C Tucker.
Monica delighted in spending summer vacations at Higgins Lake in Northern Michigan. She relished sharing this tradition with her daughters. She also held a special passion for horseback riding, comedy, music, flower gardening, Yorkshire terriers and sports—especially the Pacers, Colts, and Michigan football. She was always a fashion icon with her shoes, handbags, and faux fur coats.
Monica’s greatest loves were her daughters, Mayla and Mille Allardt. She was the eldest child of her loving parents, Dr. Nancy Johnson, and Earl Townsend III. Her siblings: Mia Townsend, Earl Townsend IV, Nathan Townsend, and Wade Townsend also survive her. She was a cherished mother, daughter and sister with an unbreakable bond to her family.
Monica also was blessed with many caring aunts, uncles, cousins, and loyal friends. She was preceded in death by her infant brother William Townsend.
Monica leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion and determination that will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
May her memory be for a blessing.
Please consider donating in Monica’s honor to one of her many passions: Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation; Jewish Federation of Greater Indianapolis; the Higgins Lake Foundation and the Riley Children’s Foundation.
