

CHARLES JEROME MASSIE was born August 20, 1954, to Helen Ruth Flake Massie and David Massie in Muncie, IN. As a young child, he lived in Muncie, Indiana and moved with his family to Indianapolis in the 1966. He attended Arsenal Technical High School. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked in a number of different occupations. He was a laundromat manager, janitor, landscaper, house painter and carpenter setting up for trade shows and conventions in Indiana and Washington, DC. He also worked security at the Indy 500 and at Super Bowl XLVI. He loved fishing and drawing.
He was known by many as JEROME. JEROME accepted the Lord in his life and joined the historic Berean Baptist Church in Washington, DC. JEROME transferred his membership to Martindale Church of Christ, Indianapolis, IN. JEROME loved his family and always found ways to help out whether sharing his professional landscaping skills to finding ways to keep family gatherings and traditions full of fun and love.
He leaves to mourn his passing two children, Ronnie Massie of Indianapolis and LaKisha Bell of Washington D.C. His son Michael Massie predeceased him. JEROME has ten grandchildren (Michael Jr., Rochelle, Henry, Mykile, Deshon, Kaprice, Kania, Keiandre, Laila, and Payton and 3 great-grandchildren. Two of his siblings predeceased him, Carol Massie and David C. Massie. He is survived by six sisters Gloria Dean Alexander (Atlanta, GA), Pamela Vaughn (John) Cairo, IL, Meta Lumpkin, Beverly Taylor, Alicia Powell, and Kimberly Webster all of Indianapolis. He is survived by five brothers Jerry Massie (Kathy)(Mitchellville, MD), Anthony Powell, Brian Powell and Michael Massie of Indianapolis and Davelle (Sherry) Massie (Ullin, IL). He is survived by thirty-nine nephews and nieces, seventy-five great-grand nephews and nieces, two great great-grand nephews and nieces, a host of loving cousins and his Aunt Lena Massie of Topeka, KS.
JEROME will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, a cherished brother, uncle, cousin, good friend and a great storyteller.
His visitation is Friday, November 24, 2017, 10am - 11am, with the service at 11am in Williams & Bluitt Funeral Home, Peoples Chapel. His interment is in Sutherland Park.
