

Georgia Mae (Knox) Jefferson and the late George H. Jefferson.
He was the only son of 3 children born to this union. He was
affectionately known as �"Sonny†to his family and grew up in
Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
At the age of 18 he join the US Army. During his time of service, he
earned the United Nations Service Medal Combat Infantryman
Badge, Purple Heart Par 2 GO9 Hg 24th infantry, and Korean
Service Medal with 3 Bronze service Stars. George was very proud
and honored to serve his country. Once he completed his Army
Service in 1953, he relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana to be closer
to his mother also known as â€?"MaDearâ€. It was in Indianapolis
where he met and married the late Julia Alice (Booth) Jefferson.
From their union came five children, Karla, Denise, Howard,
Crystal and Judy.
While living in Columbus, Ohio, he worked at the Lucent
technologies before later returning to Indianapolis, Indiana to
work at the US Post office.
Dad was a very proud man that loved his family. He enjoyed his
grandson’s most as they held a special place in his heart and he
related to their growing up opportunities and challenges. He also
was a proud member of the Mason Brotherhood in Indianapolis,
Indiana. Dad enjoyed watching sports especially baseball and
basketball, he was a devoted IU fan and enjoyed fishing.
