Everett was born in Indianapolis on September 3, 1928 to Benjamin Everett and Edwina Pearl McFarland. He graduated Arsenal Technical High School in 1946 and joined the Marine Corps Reserve in February 1947. He was wounded in Korea and honorably discharged in February 1952. After serving his country, he worked as a Glazier for 42 years installing mirrors, plate glass windows, aluminum doors and store fronts in high-rise buildings throughout the Midwest. Everett had seven children - James Michael, Sue Lynn, Jon Everett, Kevin Scott, Steven Allen, Mary Kathleen and Bryan Christopher. For his military service, he received the following awards: Purple Heart (2); Combat Action Ribbon; Navy Presidential Unit Citation; Korean Presidential Unit Citation; National Defense Service Medal; Korean Service Medal; Combat Service Commemorative Medal; Overseas Service Commemorative Medal; United States Marine Corp Service Medal; 50th Anniversary Korean Defense Commemorative Medal; and the Cold War Victory Commemorative Medal.
