John (Jack) R. Schaffner, Carmel, Indiana, formerly of Wheeling, West Virginia. Born November 2, 1932 and passed away on October 11, 2010. He was the youngest son of Irwin and Frances Lyonette Schaffner of Wheeling , and was preceded in death by his sisters Ethel Yeager, Sister Virginia Schaffner, S.S.J. and his brothers Father William Schaffner, S.J. and Irwin Schaffner.
Jack proudly served eight years in the Navy Reserve during the Cold War, while living in Wheeling and moved to Carmel in 1967. As an avid Notre Dame fan, he attended at least one home football game per year. He retired as a salesman from Indiana Supply in 1997.
He married Bonnie J. Schaffner on September 6, 1952, who survives him as well as his three children, Regina, John (Mary) and Thomas (Lisa) and eight grandchildren (Margie, Bob, John Michael, Claire and Beth Schaffner and Susanna Falkmann (Nathan), Lauren Harney (Adam) and Haileigh Schaffner. His first great-grandchild is Layla Harney.
