Anna Maxine Burton Was born March 19, 1923 in Burkesville, KY to Eddie and Florence Samples. She was the eldest of five children. She was a devoted daughter and sister who helped raise her siblings. When times were hard she made sure they kept a roof over their heads and were fed and clothed.
Maxine, as she preferred to be called, was married February 23, 1951 to Lee Grant Burton who preceded her in death in June of 2008. They were happily married for 58 years. She loved her husband Lee. She was a faithful loving wife; she was his "rib". They cherished each other and loved to travel. They belonged to various travel clubs, journeying all over the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. She truly missed him when he departed to glory.
Maxine was a devoted mother to her three children. She believed Proverbs as it stated to "train up a child in the way they should go". She also didn't mind using the rod to make sure they stayed on course. Maxine worked hard in her home and held multiple jobs outside the home to raise her children.
Maxine was an excellent cook. Her Sunday and holiday meals were memorable from fried chicken to greens and her caramel cakes. You always wanted to come back for more. She always had a warm smile to go with her warm meals.
Sister Burton loved the Lord and was a faithful member of St Johns Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. She served as a Deaconess and on many committees within the church. Maxine was always a faithful volunteer for anything that needed to be done.
