

Nina G. Jackson (Douglas) 68, of Indianapolis died December 22 in the loving care of her daughters, following a 9-month battle with cancer. Nina is the daughter of Naomi Cline Douglas and Harold B. Douglas, both deceased. She is the beloved mother of, and survived by, daughters Sherri Jackson of Fishers, IN, Jill Jackson Madinger, son-in-law Brian Madinger and granddaughter, Ellen Madinger, Carmel, IN, the light and joy of her world.
Born in Simpson County, KY in 1941, Nina was a long-time resident of the Indianapolis eastside, graduating from IPS School #3 and Arsenal Technical High School, class of 1959. She enjoyed a successful career in customer service management and operations for Baxter International and Walt Disney Corporation, retiring in 1999.
In retirement, Nina chose to serve the needs of children as both a part-time nanny with Sitters to the Rescue and as an active member of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary. There she developed and launched the successful "Chat & Make-a-Hat" program that provides hats to accompany the "Coats for Kids" drive. Hundreds of fleece hats are now made and donated annually to the children of Indianapolis because of her vision and caring heart.
Nina has been a blessing to many and will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held at Crown Hill Funeral Home, Indianapolis, IN December 28th 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial Service on December 29th at 1:00 p.m. held in the Gothic Chapel at Crown Hill Cemetery, one hour of visitation will preside the service. Burial will be private at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Women's Auxiliary Memorial Fund, c/o The Salvation Army, P.O.
