

Pam died suddenly in her Indianapolis home on March 1, 2022. Pam was born in East Chicago, Indiana on April 21, 1949. She was the second child born to Arthur and Anne Modrowski. She attended East Chicago Roosevelt High School graduating in 1967. She was a member of the National Honor Society and recipient of the American Legion Scholastic Award. Pam attended Indiana University and pledged the Delta Zeta Sorority where she made lifelong friends. She was on the Pan Hellenic Board and House officer. She was on the Dean's list and found time to volunteer on the Arbutus yearbook her last year at IU. During the summer of 1970, she had an internship with Senator Birch Bayh in Washington D.C. It was a wonderful experience that broaden her horizons. Pam graduated IU in 1972 with a BS in Political Science and continued her pursuit of education at Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis taking business classes from 1973 through 1975.
Pam moved to Indianapolis in 1972. She worked on the administrative staff of Secretary of State Larry Conrad and Edwin Simcox. Her primary responsibilities were Notary Licensing and Certification of statewide elections. After leaving the State House in 1980, she used her talents and eye for style in clothing. She worked and later managed Redwood and Ross Clothiers downtown until its closing in 1997. Thereafter, she was instrumental in setting up and running the Julian Center's "Thrifty Threads" in Broad Ripple. Pam then moved to banking working for National City/PNC for 10 years. Finally, wanting to slow down she worked part time at Lowes until she retired.
Anyone who met Pam remembers her kindness, sense of humor and wonderful laughing smile. She was a loyal friend and loved adventures with her circle of friends. She loved to golf, being on the ocean, watching IU women and men's basketball and football, watching the Indy Colts, go to New York City to see Broadway plays and experience great food. She loved to party and cook for her friends. She was also an avid reader. She was proud of her Croatian/Polish heritage and brought many an ethnic dish to the table. Lenten meals were never boring! She co-hosted many Christmas parties, May Race parties and July 4th parties. There was never a dull moment at these gatherings as they were about friendship, food, fun, libations, and overflowing laughter.
Pam leaves behind her life companion, Jerlyn Southwick, her beloved siblings Carol Hadidian of Munster Indiana, James Modrowski (Kristi) of St. John Indiana, Robert Modrowski, DDS (Laura) of St. John Indiana, Sharon Abinanti (Michael) of Palatine, Illinois, Thomas Modrowski (Kim) of St. John, Indiana, and David (Patti) of Crown Point, Indiana. She also leaves behind her nine nieces and nephews and ten great nieces and great nephews, many cousins and her Aunt Millie Marich of Phoenix, Arizona. Lastly, she leaves behind her beloved rescue dachshund Oliver Wendell.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.. A Celebration of Pam's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. all at Family Funeral Care, 5791 Rockville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46224.
