Richard Leonard Griesemer

Born on October 16, 1961, in Olney IL, he was the son of the late Leonard and Jane (Brookfield) Griesemer. Rick is survived by his sisters, Diana Jill Funk (Tim), Ann Worden, and Donna Treece (Brian), as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was formerly married to Vicki Condra Griesemer with whom he shared many years together.

Rick’s work life was as varied as his talents. He was a fiber optics installer, a talented drywall hanger and a proud entertainer in his community. He enjoyed bringing joy to others and performed as a magician in area restaurants. He also delighted children and adults at birthday parties and their annual Griesemer Family reunion as “Checkers the Clown.” His humor, quick wit, and love for making people smile were trademarks of his personality.

In recent years, Rick was blessed to have the compassionate care of Whittini Carter, who served as his home health aid for the past five years. Our family will always be grateful for her kindness.

A funeral mass will be held on 11am Thursday, 8/14 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, Illinois

Rick’s passing leaves a sense of loss among his family and friends, but his spirit will live on in the stories, smiles, and magic he shared during his lifetime.
