Richard "Dick" Louis Wilkerson, age 72, of Avon, Indiana passed away on Saturday December 21, 2019. Dick was born June 14, 1947 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Mary Jane "Molly" (Southard) Wilkerson and Lawrence "Babe" Wilkerson. He was a US Army veteran serving during Vietnam. He also was a WWII buff and member of the VFW. He retired from GM - Allison and served on the Indianapolis Police Department reserve as a sergeant for 10 years. He was a fabricator and could modify anything to be better suited to his needs and he enjoyed tinkering in his garage. Dick also enjoyed fishing. Most importantly he was a man of faith who loved his family, especially being with his grandchildren.
Dick is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn (Cross) Wilkerson; daughter Bethany Stipe (Robert); son Richard "Danny" Wilkerson (Tracy), grandson Jackson Stipe, grandson Brent Wilkerson, granddaughter Olivia Stipe, granddaughter Brooke Wilkerson and sister Rebecca Waters (James).
He was preceded in death by; father Lawrence "Babe" Wilkerson and mother Mary Jane "Molly" (Southard) Wilkerson; brother Lawrence "Joe" Wilkerson; brother Jack Wilkerson; brother Dennis "Butch" Wilkerson; sister Betty Miller and sister Sharon Lucas.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Family Funeral Care-Rockville West, 5791 Rockville Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana. His Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be at Westridge Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.
