Robert Lewis McGathey Jr.

Robert Lewis McGathey Jr. (Bob) 75, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Robert was born September 30, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of the late Robert Louis and Dorothy McGathey. Robert worked at Ford Motor Company for 32 years, retiring in 2001 and was a member of the UAW Local #1111. He was an honorary member of the Marion County Sheriff's Department, playing softball with the Police Athletic League. Robert was an avid sports fan enjoying the Chicago Cubs. Indianapolis Colts, golfing, bowling, basketball and watching any sport on TV. However, his favorite thing was spending time with is loving wife, especially taking her on cruise's and spoiling her as much as he could. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 58 years; Shirley (Umbarger) McGathey, daughters; Kimberly (Daniel) Barnett and Stephanie (Sam) Fiducci, son; Gregory McGathey, sister; Cathy Baker, brother; Bruce (Chris) McGathey, many nieces and nephews. Grandchildren; Stefan (Amanda), Kayla, Kelsey (Shania), Sawyer, Krista. Samantha (Kyle) Fiducci, Emily, (Richie), Devin (Cherokee) McGathey and great grandchildren: Dani June Barnett, Gunnar and Ruxin. Sophie, Oliver, Maverick Barnett. Gabi, Belle, Ryker, Ellie, Charlotte. Orion Vincent (Fiducci) and Persephone McGathey. He was preceded in death by his parents; Robert Louis and Dorothy McGathey, son; Robert Lewis McGathey, III, sister; Sally Weber, brother; Charlie McGathey and brother in law, Ron Baker. A memorial gathering for Robert will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Fleming Garden Christian Church, 530 S Taft Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46241, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 PM.
