

Robert "Smitty" Smith, a cherished and thoughtful individual, passed away on February 18, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on May 2, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, to Stanley and MaryLou Smith, Robert was known for his hard-working nature and his deep love for his family and friends.
Robert graduated from Niles West High School and pursued a career as a chef at the Milano Inn. He moved to Indianapolis in the 1990s, where he continued to share his passion for cooking and hospitality.
In his personal life, Robert was an avid fan of Chicago sports, particularly the White Sox, Bears, and Blackhawks. He had a deep appreciation for Chicago food and loved all kinds of music, especially rock 'n' roll and Motown. Robert was also an enthusiastic golfer and took great joy in his role as a grandfather.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Laurie Smith, and his brother Jerry Smith. He is survived by his stepmother Pat Smith, his son Joe (Megan) Smith, his daughter Ashley (Ryan) Nolan, and his grandsons Cayden Nolan and Brandon Nolan.
A gathering of family and friends will take place on March 14, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Little & Sons Funeral Home, located at 4901 E Stop 11 Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46237. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 pm at the same location.
