

Roger John Abraham, 84, of Indianapolis and formerly of Lowell passed away on April 4, 2025. Roger is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Joan; his children, Lisa (Mike) Francis of Indianapolis and Chuck (Robyn) Abraham of Cedar Lake; grandchildren Anna, Josh, Brian, Ian, Megan and Nigel; his brother, Gerard Abraham of Crown Point, sisters Mary “Sis” Abraham of Crown Point, Bonita Becze of Crown Point, Majella (Alan) Werner of LaCrosse; many nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Aloysius and Mildred Abraham, and brother, Howard Abraham, Sr.
Roger was born in Gary, Indiana on August 11, 1940 to Aloysius and Mildred Abraham. As a child, he worked with his uncles on many farms around Crown Point, even learning how to drive a tractor when he was approximately 8 years old. Roger graduated from Crown Point High School in 1958. He served in the US Army from 1963 to 1965, where he became a payroll clerk.
Roger and Joan married on May 15, 1965 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Hammond. Roger worked for Kroger Foods in Gary after his enlistment was up. He moved over to the Wilco Foods location in Miller in 1970 after relocating his young family from Crown Point to Hammond.
Roger helped open the Wilco Foods location in Lowell in 1976, where he worked as produce manager until his retirement in 2006. He kept active as a Little League Baseball coach in Lowell for several years, and coached a team that won its division.
Roger and Joan also were very active with the Red Devil football program, and ran chains for the middle school, freshman and junior varsity football teams for 24 years. According to former coach Kirk Kennedy, saying they “certainly understand what RDP is all about” as they were with the resurrection of the football program from the very beginning.
Roger was active with the Catholic Order of Foresters most of his life, with both St. Mary’s Court No. 293 in Crown Point and on the state level, having served as State Chief Ranger for Indiana. He was formerly a member of St. Edward Roman Catholic Church in Lowell and most recently, St. Augusta Roman Catholic Church in Lake Village.
Cremation and arrangements were entrusted to Family Funeral Care-Rockville West in Indianapolis. Private services to be announced at a later date.
