Ruby Eugenia Powell

Ms. Ruby Eugenia Davie Powell was born to Walter and Mary Ann Moore Davie on November 22, 1914, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. She was proceeded in death by one sister, Gertrude E. Cox , two brothers, Pervis H. Hooks and William D. Hooks.

She attended Crispus Attucks High School in Hopkinsville, Kentucky and graduated in 1934.

After professing hope in Christ at an early age, she joined Main Street Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, Kentucky and sang in the choir.

After moving to Indianapolis, IN she was united in matrimony to Herbert L. Powell, who proceeded her in death. Born to this union were three daughters and one son. She united with Mount Paran Baptist Church in 1971. Ruby attended Sunday school and worked in Training Union.

She retired from L.S. Ayres Co. Tea Room after 19 years of continuous service.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Norma J. Hicks, Katherine Powell Hunt (Lancaster, TX) and Anita L. Offutt. Son, Herbert H. Powell. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Diana M. Cox, Larry Abernathy, Denitra Mills, Corniece Patton, Rhonda Williams, Michelle Hill, Alisa A. Tunstall, Dawn Covington-Fall, Crystal Powell and Renita Robinson. Also surviving her are 33 great-grand children and 47 great-great-grand children.
