Sandra "Sandy" K. Hendrix Dodd

Sandra "Sandy" K. (Hendrix) Dodd, age 63, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Sunday March 8, 2020. She was born May 3, 1956 in Great Lakes, Illinois to the late Carol (Fellows) Hendrix and Robert Hendrix. Sandy was an award winning hairdresser and stylist, including being awarded best colorist in Indianapolis Monthly, and was entrusted with high profile clients such as Indy 500 drivers’ wives and members of ZZ Top. She owned and operated Scandals Salon for many years before most recently working at Salon Du Jour. Sandy will most be remembered by her family and friends by her limitless kindness and love for all. Sandy was extraordinarily creative and was also giving, supportive, and progressive. Sandy was an early advocate for gay rights and HIV support and was active in the 1980s and 1990s with the Damien Center. More recently, she supported the Happy Hollow Children's Camp to help provide disadvantaged children with opportunities. Sandy also enjoyed spending time with her dogs, the kind that needed someone like her to take them in and care for them, and loved her grandchildren. Sandy is survived by her companion of 15 years, Bob Stolz and his daughters Jessica Stolz, Sarah Hardman, and Allison Singer and their six children; brother, Brad Hendrix (Terri); sister, Pam Miller (Rick); nieces, Amanda Miller (Jeremy) and Haley Hendrix; and nephews, Josh Miller and John Hendrix. Memorial Visitation and her Celebration of Life are planned for Saturday, September 4, 2021 with gathering from 10-12 and the service at 12.
