Shomari Hickman

1 noviembre , 197611 mayo , 2022
He called everyone “buddy.” Shomari Mikail Hickman was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on November 1, 1976 to Louise and the late Harold “Dickie” Hickman. Mari, as he was affectionately known to family, was the only brother to his four older sisters. Shomari was raised in Indianapolis and graduated from Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School High School in 1995, where he excelled in baseball and football. He also attended Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. Shomari loved his family and close friends, of which there were many, and never ended a conversation with his family without saying “luv ya.” He was large in stature with a heart to match and had an infectious laugh. He was an avid gamer, life-long Yankees fan and enjoyed cooking. Shomari spent several years as a sous chef at various restaurants around Indy. His love of music was incorporated into his work as a stagehand for concert venues throughout the country, and he worked for Live Nation for many years. One of his latest projects was constructing fences. Shomari took on each endeavor with a strong sense of passion and commitment to excellence. Shomari was preceded in death by his father, Harold Hickman and is survived by his devoted mother, Louise Hickman; sisters, Stephanie Arbuckle (Charles), Tracy Hibbler (Alic), Shelly Hickman, Gail Hickman and Giselle Brown; nephews, Kyle Arbuckle and Darryl Shackleford: nieces, Katya Arbuckle and Brooke Bryant; aunts Patricia Sharpe (Alvin) , Alberta Harris (James) and uncle Holsey Hickman (Mae); and other loving family members and countless treasured friends. Shomari will be missed immeasurably by his family and friends - each will recall something that made him unforgettable. A gathering of family and friends for Shomari will be held Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home, 700 West 38th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208, followed by a celebration of life funeral services from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.crownhill.org for the Hickman family.
