Ms. Shonte A. Kirby
With heavy hearts and so much love, we remember the life of Shonte A. Kirby who transitioned to Heaven on Friday, November 14, 2025. Native of Indianapolis, IN, Shonte was a woman whose kindness, faith, and love touched everyone who knew her. She was gentle and always willing to help someone in need.
Shonte’s relationship with God shaped who she was. Her faith was steady and sincere, and she carried it with her in everything she did. Whether she was encouraging someone, praying for a friend, or simply offering a helping hand, she shared God’s love through her everyday actions. In the best moments and the toughest times, Shonte kept God central to all and was constantly encouraging others to do the same.
“Well done, good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
Above all else here on earth, Shonte loved her family. She was the one you could count on – supportive, genuinely interested, and fiercely protective. She celebrated every milestone, stood strong with many through some of their difficult times, and made sure all of the people she loved knew they mattered. Just being around her sparked joy, comfort, lots of laughter, and a sense of belonging.
Shonte also poured her heart into her work as a nurse. Becoming a nurse wasn’t just a job for her – it was her calling. She worked tirelessly, while raising her children, to reach goal after goal. She carried the true definition of resilience. Shonte had a natural gift for caring for others, treating every patient with patience and compassion. Her dedication and strong work ethic earned her the admiration of her coworkers and the gratitude of countless patients and families over the years.
Shonte was a woman of quiet strength and deep love. Her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her legacy lives on in the way she cared for people, the faith she carried, and the memories she created with those she loved.
Shonte was preceded in death by her father David Massie, grandmother, Saundra Green, great-grand mother Macy Williams, and several other loved ones.
She is survived by those who miss her more than can be explained, including her mother, Lisa Massie, her children Chris [Jamie] Massie, Brionna Massie, Dwight Sargent and Myeshia Massie, her siblings Tasha Massie, Kionna [Mike] Kelley, and Jeremy Culp, her grandchildren Aubree, Jru, Aivalynn and Zaia, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
As we honor her life, we thank God for the time we had with her. May her spirit continue to inspire us to love harder and serve others the way she did.
Rest peacefully in God’s everlasting embrace, Tay. We love you.
