

Stanley Howard Eppen, 84, of Speedway, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Stanley was born February 22, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana the son of the late Herman Franklin and Lena Mildred Eppen.
A lifelong resident of Speedway, Indiana Stanley worked on his family's farm near Georgetown Road which included parking cars for the Indianapolis 500 since the farm was across the street from the race track. Stanley proudly served in the US Navy 1959-1963 stationed aboard the U.S.S. Fulton, a submarine tender. He was a diesel mechanic with Cummins Mid-States for 43 years, retiring in 2007. Stanley was one of the founding members of the Indy Hi-Winders Car Club, and a member of American Legion Post 64 and Speedway Lions Club. He was an auto enthusiast and sole owner of his 1964 Ford Fairlane. Stanley enjoyed bowling, movies and music, singing and dancing, hunting, cooking, volunteering, and spending time with his family and friends. He was loved and admired and he will be greatly missed.
Stanley is survived by his children; Jeffrey Eppen and Annetta (John) Gholdson, brother-in-law Richard (Barbara) Moran, sisters-in-law; Patricia Moran and Rose Moran, grandchildren; Josephine (Geoffrey) Smith, Margaret and Michael Gholdson, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of almost 59 years; Julia Annetta, sisters; Claudine (Tom) Allison and Sandra Thurston.
A visitation for Stanley will be held Monday, October 13, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Family Funeral Care-Rockville West, 5791 Rockville Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana 46224. A visitation will occur Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a funeral service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Family Funeral Care-Rockville West, 5791 Rockville Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana 46224.
Stanley will be laid to rest in West Ridge Park Cemetery, 9295 W 21st St, Indianapolis, Indiana 46234.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Speedway Lions Club.
