Thomas C. "Tom" Ford, Jr. 86 yrs. Born in Indianapolis, IN passed away peacefully at home in Plainfield, IN on May 3, 2022. Tom had gone through treatment for COPD and CHF for several years. Tom graduated from Broad Ripple High School, attended Kemper Military Academy, Indiana University and Butler University. A few credits shy from graduating from Butler before starting his career in the trucking industry. Tom began his career at Associated Truck Rental in 1954 with his father, Thomas C. Ford, Sr. and brother, Gerald (Jerry) Ford. Starting as a mechanic and becoming president, Tom also owned White GMC Truck Center, Diesel Power, Inc., and Circle City Truck Sales. Leaving behind his wife Nancy (Goins) Ford, children Karen (Ford) and Bob Arnold, Roberta (Lakin) and Mike Swisher, Ann Ford, Dale (Kim) Lakin; daughter-in-law, Willia Ford; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his son, Christopher Ford; grandson, Patrick Swisher and great-grandson Sage Swisher; his parents, Thomas C. and Mary (Butcher) Ford; brother, Gerald Ford; sister Sharon Ford and former wife, Diana (Jean) Ayer. Tom enjoyed driving and restoring his 1948 GMC Five Window Pick up and 1957 Classic Thunderbird. He kept busy woodworking, rising to the level of Master Woodworker at Mark Adams School of Woodworking. His passion was making Queen Anne period furniture. Tom was a member of the following organizations: Delta Tau Delta, Lifetime Optimist and past president, Indpls. Traffic Club, Indiana Motor Truck Assn., Amtra Lease, a Boy Scout Leader and a member of Grace Baptist Church. Tom’s wishes were to be cremated with no service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in Tom's name to: the COPD Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the FORD, Jr. family.
