
Vernon E. Embry, 85, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016. He was born May 25, 1931, in Dardanelle, Arkansas, to Samuel and Luella Embry.After receiving his formal and some college education, he enlisted in the army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955. He was employed as a journeyman machine repairman for Chrysler. He worked from 1955 to 1996, retiring after 41 years of service. He was also a member of the U.A.W. Local 685. Vernon was a member of Everlasting Dominion Fellowship, where he served as head deacon, head usher, treasurer and a member of the trustee board.He is survived by his wife, Ruth A. Embry, Kokomo; son, Mark E. (Barbara) Embry, Atlanta , Georgia; daughters, Victoria Washington, Edgewood, Maryland and Sherece L. McCauley, Indianapolis; sister, Vivian Embry, Kokomo; stepson, Evan (Travia) Williams,Fishers, Indiana; stepdaughters, Lori L. (Bright) Azuru, Carmel, Marla P. (Brian T.) Fairley, Westfield, Indiana, Shari Strickland, Waldwick, New Jersey, and Stephanie D. Wofford, Indianapolis; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.Services will be 1p.m. Friday at Everlasting Dominio9n Fellowship, with calling from 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Crown Point Cemetery.
