Virginia R. Smith, of Indianapolis, passed away on January 30, 2023. She was born on November 2, 1936, in Cincinnati, OH to Russell and Margaret Reavis. She graduated from Iowa State University. After graduation she moved to Indianapolis, IN where she met and married Vance Smith in 1960 and, together, they raised their family. Virginia was a talented artist and gardener. She loved to paint, garden, travel, and, most of all, spend time with her family. She was a member of The Indianapolis Garden Club, Indianapolis Woman’s Club (Past President), Junior League of Indianapolis, Children’s Bureau Auxiliary, Woodstock Club, and Second Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Smith. She is survived by her children, Cynthia Bolander and Jeffrey (Jennifer) Smith, and her grandchildren Brendan (Paige) Bolander, Megan (Matthew) Ferlindes, and Nicholas Bolander. A Celebration of Life will be held at Second Presbyterian Church on February 7, 2023, at 11:00 am, preceded by calling at 10:00 am in the Church Parlor. A private family burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dementia Society of America.
