William “Bill” Thomas Casida, 89, entered the presence of the Lord on April 15, 2026, at his home in Indianapolis, Indiana. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. A devoted Christ follower, husband, father, grandfather, and veteran, he leaves a legacy of faith, family, perseverance, courage, leadership, service, and generosity.
Bill was born in Indianapolis on June 11, 1936, to the late Clyde Casida and Martha Cox Casida Senter. He married his best friend Joyce Ann Lutz, on October 17, 1964. Their loving, faith-filled marriage of more than six decades was a model of commitment, and they were inseparable partners through both the joys and challenges of life.
After graduating from Arsenal Technical High School, Bill proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War era before returning to Indianapolis to pursue civil engineering studies at Purdue University. Throughout his life, he had a passion for architecture, construction, and safety. He worked on several notable facilities in various capacities, started his own engineering company, and ultimately retired from Allison Transmission as a Facilities Engineer. Bill brought a relentless work-ethic, tenacity, intellectual curiosity, and optimistic determination to all his endeavors.
Bill’s faith was the cornerstone of his life and was reflected in his actions. He was a member of The Creek Church in Indianapolis and often privately engaged in random acts of kindness and generosity. He also was an avid reader, history lover, woodworker, nature enthusiast, and Butler University basketball fan. His greatest joy was time with family. “Grandpa Bill” was a constant fixture at his grandchildren’s school events and an enormously formative influence on their lives.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Casida and Martha Senter; his brother, Marcus Casida; and his sister, Mylrea Taylor.
Bill is survived by his wife, Joyce Casida; his daughter, Jennifer Hillebrand (Brad); his sisters, Mary Terry and Kathleen Janeway; his beloved grandchildren Nate, Nick, and Mikalya Hillebrand, along with several nieces and nephews. Bill’s strength, perseverance, generous spirit, unwavering love and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 4901 E Stop Eleven Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46237, on April 24, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and again on April 25, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A service will be held at Little & Sons Funeral Home, 4901 E. Stop Eleven Road, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46237, on April 25, 2026, at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery, 700 W 38th St, Indianapolis, IN 46208, on April 25, 2026.
Memorials in Bill’s honor may be given to The Creek Indy Generous Ministry, Indiana Historical Society, or Marian University Spectrum of Knights Autism Program.
In his final days, Bill fought with the same courage and tenacity he displayed throughout life. The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the many wonderful medical professionals and supportive members of The Creek encountered during his long illness journey. For we walk by faith, not by sight, but we are of good courage and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:7-8 (NASB).
