William Joe "Bill" Pettigrew, 74, of Indianapolis, passed away July 4, 2021. He was born in Indianapolis to the late Paul and Thelma (Rickabaugh) Pettigrew and was a US Army Veteran. He was a retired Truck Driver for Roadway and a member of Teamsters Local 135. He was also a member of American Legion Post 64. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Pat, Robert, Glen, Jack, Emerson, Gordon, Richie Pettigrew and his sister Edith Neely.
He is survived by his wife Joyce(Wilkerson) Pettigrew; his children, Andy Brummitt (Valerie), William Joe Pettigrew, Jr. (Monica), Clint Pettigrew and Lelia Pettigrew; his brother Ray Pettigrew, his sisters Jean Gadient, Martha Simpson and Vera Hartwell; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and his dog Sam.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Family Funeral Care, 5791 Rockville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46224. Military Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A celebration of life will be held afterwards at American Legion Post 64, 601 S. Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46214. Burial will be at a later date.
