William F. York, 88, passed away December 22, 2009. He retired from Indiana Bell after 38 years of service. He was best known for his role as the official Santa Claus at Methodist Hospital for 38 years, where he witnessed and participated in many miracles. Following retirement, he and his wife, Jerry, produced the world-renowned jazz festival known as JAM or the Jazz Artist Musical, for 10 years. He also served as the Chairman of the USS Cushing Assn. for 11 years, American Legion Post #331, President of the Indpls. Jazz Club, Brownsburg Masonic Lodge, and several other organizations that emphasized his talents.
Nothing meant more to Bill than his love of family and spending time with his friends. He also loved traveling, jazz, fishing, and GO COLTS!
He leaves to honor his legacy, wife, Anna "Jerry" York; daughters, Jerrilyn (Ronald) Thompson, Debra (Dennis) Hamstra; grandchildren, Lori Thompson-Schrage, Matthew Hamstra, Jeff Thompson, Dana Hamstra-Weber and 10 special great-grandchildren.
