Wilma was born to Louie Mae and Hence Sain and was one of eight siblings. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 70 years, Cook S. Brown Jr., her parents, her siblings, and her great-granddaughter Antazane.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters Susan Gilley and Cynthia Brown (Greg), her sister Barbara Sain, grandchildren Fordena (Bryan), Megan, and Matthew Brown, and her great-grandchildren Tatum, Zoren, Verity, Ezhara, Fyra, Zanebryan, Xanta, Ahntavalae, Vada, and Forden. For 25 years, Wilma touched the lives of countless children as a devoted preschool teacher. Her patience, warmth, and steady presence made a lasting impact on the young minds she nurtured. Outside the classroom, she was a lifelong fan of motorsports, especially the Indy 500, quarter midgets, and stock car racing. She also found joy in cheering faithfully for the Indianapolis Colts.
She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: watching the news, catching episodes of Shark Tank, reminiscing on a favorite bench at Kings Island, and sharing laughter with those she held dear. A proud supporter of American veterans, Wilma was also an active member of the American Legion and VFW Post #98.
Wilma was a traveler at heart, taking joy in cruises and adventures, yet she was always happiest when surrounded by her family. Her legacy is one of deep love, unwavering strength, and joyful connection. She was a woman who gave generously of her heart and time and her absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew her.
Her family finds comfort in knowing she is reunited with loved ones passed and they carry forward her spirit with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
