Addie J Walker

Addie J. Walker, 99, born January 16, 1916, died January 8, 2016. Aunt Addie was blessed to call, “The Williamson Kids,” her children. Pete, Patty (Patsy), Vicki, Susan, Gloria, & Sandy (Addie was the midwife for the three youngest Williamson girls and delivered them at their home in Asbury, AL). Addie enjoyed celebrating their achievements and looked forward to being included in their lives. One of her prized possessions was a scrapbook of memorabilia of their years growing up. Tim and Susan Williamson Guy lovingly gave Addie a home for the last 7 years of her life. With them, at age 95, she made her first airplane trip, rode on a Harley, and lived outside the state of Alabama. Tim and Susan gave Addie much happiness and joy in her final years. She will surely be missed in their day to day lives. The Williamson Girls and their families loved Addie and considered her to be the Matriarch. At 98, she could barely speak above a whisper but she lovingly recited the Lord’s Prayer at their Christmas gathering. This memory will never be forgotten and will always be cherished by those in attendance. The Girls will truly miss asking Addie “Which one of us do you love the most?” Mrs. Walker is survived by Tim and Susan Guy; her beloved Angie Pugh; nieces, Vicki Cawthorne, Gloria Newton, Sandy Breed, Sharon Smith, Adra Dungan, and Bobby Joe Hicks; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husbands, Marvin “Buster” Hicks a.k.a. “Her Boy”, Grady Earl McKinley and Jimmy Walker. Pallbearers will be Bobby Joe Hicks, Horrace Schultz, Allen Jednat, Joey Hare, Dewain Baxter, Jonny Howard, Kyle Baxter and Dylan Baxter. Visitation will be Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 10:30 until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. at Lathan Funeral Home, Jackson. Interment will follow in Asbury Baptist Church Cemetery, Grove Hill, AL. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Asbury Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
