Michael Sydney Reeves Sr.

Michael Sydney “Mike” Reeves, Sr., age 60, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 in Athens, AL with loving family members at his side. He was born on May 5, 1954 in Texas to the late Sydney Reeves and Evelyn Beverly Reeves. Mike was a resident of Coffeeville, AL where he was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. He was a “jack-of-all-trades” having been a tinkerer who loved working on anything mechanical and a truck driver as well as pursuing his primary trade of welding with Brown & Root. A lover of all things outdoors, Mike was most fond of fishing. He is preceded in death by his father, Sydney Reeves, step-father, Bryant “Red” McDonald, son, Don Elbert Reeves, beloved aunt and uncle, Kate and I.G. Reeves. Survivors include his daughter, Samantha (Joshua) Pringle of Athens, AL; 2 sons, Michael S. Reeves, Jr. of West Columbia, TX and William Martin Reeves of Dallas, TX; mother, Evelyn Reeves McDonald; 3 sisters, Pattie (Ed) Mueller of Hampton, VA, Mary (Steve) Holcomb of Cabot, AR and Carol (Roy) Love of Mansfield, LA; his special canine companion, Remington, and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. funeral time at Union Grove Baptist Church, Bro. Cleon Kyle officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Grove Baptist Church.
