

Vaughn Allen Roark, 86, of Jackson entered into rest Sunday, December 21, 2014, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 12:00 PM at Lathan Funeral Home, Jackson. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens. Rev. Gary Burton and Rev. Ben Stubblefield will officiate. A native of Birchwood, TN, Mr. Roark had resided in Jackson for the last seven years coming from Pintlala, AL. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson and Santa Fe Lodge No. 226. Mr. Roark was veteran of the US Army serving in World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas J. and Minnie B. Roark, three brothers, Donald B. Roark, Neal S. Roark, and Virgil S. Roark, and one sister, Winona R. Beal. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Jean C. Roark of Jackson, two daughters, Debbie R. Jones of Jackson and Gail R. Sides (Steven A.) of Kingsport, TN, two sisters, Mildred R. Buie of Columbus, GA and Jo Ann R. Stringer (Robert A.) of Slidell, LA, three grandchildren, Clifton Roark “Rory” Jones, Leslie Marie Jones, and DeAnna Sides Gibson (Brett), and five great-grandchildren, Malikhi A. Jones, Maddox A. Jones, Isaiah Gibson, Ezekiel Gibson, and Micah Gibson. Active pallbearers include Rory Jones, Steve Sides, Glenn Roark, George Roark, James Carpenter, Eddie Carpenter, and Troy Spence. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Lathan Funeral Home in Jackson.
