

William Robert “Bobby” Lipscomb, 80, of Grove Hill, passed away July 18, 2016 at his residence. He was born August 16, 1935 in Sylacauga to Robert Burns Lipscomb and Lillian Stewart Lipscomb. After 42 years of service with the AL Dept. of Transportation as a civil engineer, he retired in 1998. He was also an avid outdoorsman who spent most of his time in the woods or on the water at his camp in Gees Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Brooks and his niece, Julie Brooks. He is survived by his four children, Tammy (Lyle) Beech of Chatom, Stacey (Stan) Gilchrist of Thomasville, Amy (Chris) Newton of Grove Hill, William Robert “Robbie” Lipscomb, Jr. of Grove Hill; six grandchildren; Zack, Justin, Laura, Taylor, Bailey & Madison; one great-grandchild, Sophie and the mother of his children, Geraldine B. Lipscomb. His loving caregivers were Genet Horn, Rena Fuller, Frances Talley, Della Williams, Clidy Davis, Ginger Odom and the staff of Southern Care Hospice. His family will be eternally grateful for the care given to “Papa.” The family will receive visitor's from 5-7 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home in Grove Hill on Tuesday, July 19, 2016. A private memorial service will be conducted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grove Hill Memorial Hospital at P.O.
