Alice Dale Connelly

Alice Dale Whitfield Connelly, 82, died Sunday August 18, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday August 22, 2013 at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Jackson. Visitation will begin at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow the service in Lakewood Cemetery.

Born in the old Baptist Hospital in Jackson on June 15, 1931, she grew up on Waycaster Street, graduating from Central High School in 1949, she remained a regular at the 49’s reunions. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Millsaps, her Masters from Mississippi College and her Law Degree from Mississippi College School of Law. She taught in the Jackson Public Schools, Wilkins, Lester and Sykes Elementary Schools before retiring. For 15 years she worked in the areas of real estate and Chancery practice until retiring a second time to travel and enjoy her home and travel.

She was preceded in death by her sister Margaret Smith. She is survived by her husband of 28 years John L. Connelly of Jackson; her daughter Carol Jo McCrary (Mike) of Hattiesburg; Three grandchildren, Carlie Dale McCray Bounds (Micaa), Taylor Michael McCray, Kendall McCray, and her Brother-In-Law Layton Smith of Pearl
